Check out what Pacific Ocean marine traffic looks like in almost real time AIS click here. We won't see Taj on this map as he will be using VFH radio rather than satellite. Marine VHF can transmit about 20 nautical miles (based on many different factors) which is more than enough to show up on a commercial ship's instruments.
